Hysteria Lives! is 25 years old! In August 1998, I started the site as a love letter to classic (and not so classic) slasher movies. I'd been a fan of the subgenre since the early 1980s, when I was a kid. But it wasn't until the release of Wes Craven's SCREAM in 1996 that it emerged from its wilderness years. With the advent of available internet I decided to look back at the humble slasher. I was genuinely surprised that it hit a chord with so many. Whilst I may poke fun sometimes, I am first and foremost a fan. The site has expanded to cover proto-slashers, gialli, modern slashers and international slashers both old and new. Thank you for the support of readers over the years. If you enjoy the site, please consider a donation to keep Hysteria Lives! alive for a good few years yet!
